Chapter 22                                                                                                                                                                                               Violet pulled out a knife and lifted up her rags. She pressed the knife into her light blue skin.
Bob watched with a wide eye as she sliced out a small chunk of flesh.
Violet placed the sacrifice in the natural hole in the ground. She then made a circle with her fingers.
“Brother, do you understand the concept of reciprocity?” asked Violet, placing her palm on Bob’s side.
“Yes, but I don’t take anything. So there’s no need to give anything either. Now can we get moving?” asked Bob, bobbing from side to side.
“Once I finish thanking Gaia for this gift, we shall leave,” said Violet, sitting lotus style.
“How long will that take?” asked Bob, landing next to her.
“There is no linear time in ritual. Relax, dear brother. Be in the moment and flow like a river,” said Violet gently petting him.
“Alright. There’s no harm in a little spiritual rejuvenation. I’ll follow your lead.”
“I do not lead the ceremony. It leads me.”
